With lakes, mountains, rivers, wine country and some of the most beautiful scenery in North America, Western Canada has a few road trips that are worth exploring this summer.

Here are a few of our favourites:

Highway 97, British Columbia

On this drive you will pass through wine country, along Osoyoos Lake, Vaseux Lake, Skaha Lake, Okanagan Lake, Ellison Lake, Wood Lake and the beautiful Kalamalka Lake.  You will drive through Osoyoos, Oliver, Penticton, Summerland, Kelowna and a bunch of other great small towns to stop in along the way.

Start in Osoyoos and drive the vineyards and wineries on your way north

Stop at one of the hundred plus wineries as you pass through Oliver and Penticton

Pull off the highway and head into downtown Kelowna for a quick walk on the boardwalk

For a quick cool down, stop in at Kalamalka lake to take a dip in the Aqua Blue waters

Highway 99 – Sea to Sky

After driving through Downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park you will cross the Lions Gate Bridge, past Horseshoe Bay, the Howe Sound while making your way towards Whistler, Pemberton and Joffre Lake. If you like hiking and outdoor adventure this is a great drive for you.

Turn up the tunes as you pass the many islands of the Howe Sound

Highway 93 – Icefields Parkway

National Geographic Traveler magazine identified the whole Banff-Jasper route as one of their 20 “drives of a lifetime”. If you are in British Columbia or Alberta… this is right in our backyard. We really don’t need to travel the world for jaw-dropping experiences! Be sure to grab some food in Banff before making the drive, there are only a few stops along the way.

A picture is worth a thousand words in Lake Louise

Stop in at one of the jaw-dropping lakes, such as Bow Lake

Once in Jasper go for a hike to see Athabasca Falls, they might just take your breath away
