Starting with 8 choices of meats or veggie patties you then can choose between 5 different bun types, a selection of 10 cheeses, 10 sauces and 31 toppings ranging from grilled peach, mac & cheese, chilli, fried pickles AND drunk onions – so to the everyday standards there is something that will make you salivate.

We’re here to give you insight to what goes on behind the scenes and why you need to eat here next time you’re dining out in Penticton – AND  we have an exclusive offer for all you GetintheLoop members HERE – you’re welcome in advance!

Location: 52 Front St #84, Penticton, BC | Contact: WebsiteFacebook, Telephone: (778)-476-5529

The idea for the burger joint that is now set up in a renovated 1946 garage first came to mind when two friends where on a trip to Las Vegas and ruminating about taking the leap into entrepreneurship by starting their own Burger restaurant. After passing a 55 speed limit sign their business was born and they have since been serving up some of the best burgs in the Okanagan and gaining attention from foodies far and wide.

Not only have they had a visit from You Gotta Eat Here – A Canadian television series on the Food Network that travels the country to find the best comfort foods, they’ve also been recognized with numerous awards such as Best Of The South Okanagan, Best Burger 2010 & 2011, Best Veggie Burger 2010 & 2011; Eat Magazine Best Burger 2011; Business Of The Year 2010; Young Entrepreneurs Of The Year Winners 2011 (among many others!) and possibly our favourite is they were honoured, recognized and celebrated by Community Living BC for their contributions to building a community that accepts people of all abilities in their workplace.

“Since 2009 CLBC has presented WOW Awards to recognize British Columbians who are creating opportunities and building awareness for a vision of full citizenship for people with developmental disabilities, one where they lead good lives, have rich relationships, choices in how they live and employment opportunities.” – Burger 55 is doing just that!

The business itself is currently being ran by Thomas Bridson who works with his 15 staff to ensure everything is running smoothly throughout the busy summer months.

Beyond providing great food and having a great team he is most proud of the community contributions they are able to make because of the great community support. “We do Fundraising events with the store for a variety of different organizations and fundraise for the Jumpstart Canadian Tire program with the money going towards giving all kids a chance to play sports. We are grateful for the love the community of Penticton has showed to support us so we do our best to reciprocate.”

Thomas, like many other Okanagians, first experienced the lifestyle when his family came on a ski trip from Vancouver.  A few months later his family moved up to Penticton and Thomas later started his first job at Burger 55. Thomas then took some time to go to school at Okanagan College for finance but was pulled back to the hospitality industry and he has been with Burger 55 ever since.

“I liked school and the bank route was a career path I was hoping to take, but as an attempt to pump the break on the whole growing up thing I a took break and started working at the burger shop.  Been hilarious and a lot of fun.”

As a foodie himself, when Thomas is not working, he can be found at other local restaurant favouriteslike Tacos Del Norte, Brodo or the Patio burger.  He likes trying new local and trendy restaurants that are adventurous with food.

The GetintheLoop Team’s Favourite Burger: Burger 55 Cheeseburger is a classic on a brioch bun with ketchup, deli mustard, mayo lettuce, tomato, onion and cheddar.  On GetitheLoop you get this with fries and a pop for $7.50 (50% off!) click HERE to check it out!

Locals Favourite: Burger of the Month is always a favourite and best seller. This month it is The Peach Burger; peach and brie stuffed turkey patty on a brioche bun with roasted garlic, mayo, dijon, spinach, sprouts, tomato and onion.

Thomas’s Favourite: Diner Burger which is an old School burger, super simple, super delicious with beef on a steamed brioche bun with fried oninons, mayo, mustard, ketchup, dill pickle and a kraft single.

Of course, you can also choose from the many options and build your own masterpiece.

After chatting with the team we were also happy to hear they’ve had a good experience with GetintheLoop; “Love that it is a locally made product, which is awesome, and we are very happy with the traffic it is driving in. It is a good tool to get new products out there and as a small company we love having the flexibility to choose what we want to promote.” Support local and check Burger 55 out!

IGNITE CHANGE: Advertise in Pools With Fish

Posted by Press No Comment yet

To say the world is changing is a fairly obvious statement. The power of technology, the sharing economy, and continued growth and popularity around mobile devices is reshaping culture and our day-to-day lives. They say, “the one thing that is certain, is change,” – the best part about change is it’s driven by improvements to the norm, it happens for the better!

One of the reasons I studied Innovation was to get a deeper understanding of what drives change and what causes Innovators Dilemma. We continually watch big companies, industries, and even small businesses struggling to adapt to change. Why is it that some of Canada’s most prominent organizations never realized that delivering a heaping pile of paper to a door, day after day, would lose it’s appeal, relevance and followership. What happened?

  • Was it our new focus on the environment?
  • Was it the cost of distribution due to rising cost of, well, everything?
  • Maybe people are not interested in the news any more?

No, it was in large part due to one major factor, the internet, and then the technology companies like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and others, that capitalized on it. All of a sudden the “news” delivered to your door was about 12 hours late and in a less desirable format. Go to the door and pick up the paper, read the paper front to back, recycle the paper. This is a daily routine very few who will read this blog “online” could admit they ever do…. Newspaper is suffering like the taxi industry, and radical innovations like “Uber” and targeted mobile advertising, will change these industries forever.

Radical innovation in an industrial sense, will change the way an industry operates and the value proposition for all of the stakeholders in it. Why would you EVER consider paying for a service that shows up consistently late and caters to those who do not actively influence your local economic community?

The power has changed hands. Why? Let me paint a picture for you. Picture the Captain of the Titanic, he see’s the iceberg straight ahead – but how does he adjust. Can he? If you were in a speedboat the adjustment would seem easy. Now imagine you head up a Newspaper group with hundreds, or thousands of sales reps,  and you realize, it looks like newspapers are going to be a thing of the past. You would certainly think that you need to drastically change your position and adjust your offering. But wait, how?

That’s how innovation happens, it’s the nimble and the quick who adjust to drive this radical change we’re talking about. By the time the big machine see’s the loss in readership and subscription, the innovators have already stolen their momentum, their eyeballs, their chance to transition, or even worse, survive.

So here is the thing. This makes sense and I think we can all see why industries and large organizations struggle to adapt but here is my question, why do the businesses small, medium and large also fail to change?

Ask your self this, why do thousands of small businesses in cities across Canada consistently advertise in what we can all agree is an overpriced and under read local newspaper? I meet with advertisers every day. They say, “print is dead” or “we all know that the paper has no readers these days” But, they still place ads, so why? I can only think of one thing…. Fear. It’s natural, everyone fears change, they like comfort. If you are a business and things are going well, you keep doing the same thing because, well, why not? The one comfort you can have advertising in a medium like a newspaper is you won’t be able to measure whether it worked or not anyways. So, buy the ad and hope you were right!

But let’s put this logic into perspective. If you love to catch fish (customers) and went fishing to the same river every year for the past 3, 5, 10 or even 20 years and when you came home your freezer was full, would you be happy? Quick answer – YES.

Now, imagine if you wanted as many fish as possible and you and your friends all knew the river had gotten a lot more shallow, the water was running a lot slower, and there were hardly any fish left in the river. In fact, it was actually now a creek, only a couple of the older fish still swam upstream would you still go there to fill your freezer? Not. a. chance.

But, when it comes to advertising, businesses of all sizes across Canada continue to purchase the same ads, in the same paper, at high rates, knowing it’s a creek with old fish. – I want this to change. It’s my job to ignite change, to introduce innovation and show businesses that there are new rivers, full of fish, and they actually pre qualify themselves.

Take this for example; What if your friends knew of a pond in your city where fish actually registered themselves and said “hey, I’m a fish, I’m hungry and I’m in a small pond, I dine out and or spend money regularly, come catch me, I am waiting.” Would you go fishing there?

Here is the good news: There is actually a pond like this for businesses and it’s called GetintheLoop. We have a database of buyers who have actively sought out our membership, registered themselves, downloaded our app and said – “Hey businesses, I like to spend money and am looking forward to receiving your offers to gain my business and one day my loyalty.” Further, these consumers keep coming back to GetintheLoop because it is a marketplace that only has relevant information to them – the promotions from businesses they liked and signed up for.

What’s even more exciting? We are not small anymore. Why? Because, people want information fast, in real time and right in the palm of their hands – on their phone! We have over 15% of the buying population in many of our Markets using our app to actively find new companies and services to experience.  Don’t have your logo and your “ad” showing up beside some news story or in the classifieds. Have your call to action marketing campaign in the palms of buyers when they are looking to make purchases. – Seems simple.

If you or someone you know currently advertises in the paper and wants to see how we stack up on total reach, price, customer engagement or real foot traffic we can drive to your business, we welcome your call, 1 844-463-9897.

Stop fishing in creeks and start fishing in ponds full of fish – Ignite a change in your advertising spend.

Carla Rayner Director of Marketing and Personal Trainer; and Rhonda Catt, Personal Trainer and Director of Athletic Performance are the two owners of a full training and wellness clinic in the heart of Downtown Vernon known as Excel Sport and Health that has nearly 30 team members in all. The two long time personal trainers set out on their entrepreneurial journey with a few goals and dreams in mind; to bring Vernon top quality training without limitations and a training Centre the could offer programming for everyone from new moms to pro athletes.

Flashing forward to 2016 the passionate duo continues to succeed expectations by offering a unique top quality training facility enriched with a sense of community and having programs specific to moms while also training BCHL, WHL, NCAA and NHL hockey players throughout the year at CATT Conditioning Performance Centre, an umbrella centre in the same facility.

This hard working pair who open Excel Sport and Health at 5:30am and have their last running program scheduled for 7pm are proud of their ability to stick to their vision and business model; “We will not bring in fads or gimmicks to make a quick buck. All training is scientifically backed, proven and effective. In an industry with many questionable training practices we are proud to stand behind our product and service.” – Carla and Rhonda

The Vernon Vipers of the BCHL

The Training Centre is private and open to its membership of 150 members with programs based around group and private training schedules; says Carla “We do this so we can provide a very high level of training, including assessments and safe modifications and progressions.” Classes range from indoor cycle, progressive programs, wellness programs, HIIT Training as well as functional movement screens and athletic training. They do offer gym access to people who are familiar with true training environment and are comfortable on their own as well as non-member services including 6 week progression training, Wellness Challenges and Corporate Challenges.

“We service people who have placed a high priority on health and wellness. The foundation of all our programming is based on true functional movement. We want bodies to move well before we load them so that we can improve the quality of movement and therefore help them move better for longer and have a better quality of life.” – Carla Rayner

The facility also has a clinic which focuses on a full team approach to proactive healthcare offering massage therapy, physiotherapy, kinesiology, nutrition and chiropractic services with open charting access to each medical team member to ensure clients receive the best service and approach from all levels of service. Rayner mentioned a recent client who trains at Excel Sport & Health that was; “referred to a physiotherapist who assessed and treated the client, and then referred to massage and chiropractor for added support, before moving back to the kinesiologist.” This allowed the client to gain high quality programming and servicing from all levels of wellness support.

At Excel Sport and Health they have programs that allow all wellness professionals to communicate and collaborate to ensure their client is moving in the right direction. Carla and Rhonda believe communication amongst doctors and wellness professionals is severely lacking in our technologically advanced society.“We know our members intimately, they are like family. We know their name, their limitations, their family, their obstacles in life and their celebrations in life.” – Carla and Rhonda

Try it out! The centre is friendly to people of all fitness levels and the only prerequisite is that you have placed a high priority on your health and wellness. They do not lock people into contracts and often have people leave for extended periods of time and return when they are able to continue on their wellness path. Carla, Rhonda and their team love helping people get fit, healthy and improve their active lifestyle. Give them a call to arrange a tour and a personal meeting to see if it is a fit for you!

Leveraging Digital Marketing on the Greens

Posted by BUSINESS No Comment yet

pga of bc logo_5GetintheLoop was invited by the PGA of BC to present at their educational seminar to speak about using digital marketing to change the face of the golf industry. It often seems as if golf courses can sell themselves; enjoying the warm southern BC climate on internationally praised golf terrain is usually enough persuasion to bring in customers, but digital marketing is just what the industry needs to keep up in the age of technology.

Passionate about both the game and business aspects of the industry, PGA of BC professionals are devoted to improving the game and learning new ways to market it. The level of dedication in every professional is inspiring; when you love what you do, it truly shows, as is the case with this remarkable group. We were honored to share our experiences and give guidance into the ever changing topic of marketing, as it can often be daunting to keep up with so many changes in social media, online strategies, and understanding your target audience. Matt was able to give some key updates on recent changes in the digital world as well as some starting steps that golf courses, or any business, can use to start building a strong digital marketing strategy.
A mobile strategy is crucial to any business attempting to thrive in 2015. The average smart phone user checks their Blog_Computerphone 155 times a day, and 40% of daily decisions are driven by a mobile phone. With 95% of all smart phone users using their phone for local searches, businesses without an effective web presence are failing to be part of a critical buying market. A profound advantage of mobile marketing is that it can be instantly presented to users, and has the ability to reach a business’ specific target market, catering to when and where they need the information most.

If courses and golf professionals want to increase engagement amongst their existing and prospective members, digital marketing will be a necessity. By increasing a course’s online presence, critical information that could determine a golfer’s decision on where to play is at the touch of their fingers. This could include course information, photos of views, weather and playing conditions, tee time availability and amenities. The simple task of providing consistent and reliable information gives courses the ability to change a potential guest into a paying guest during the decision process, before they even leave the house.

As far as social media goes, Facebook and Twitter are the most commonly utilized platforms, with Instagram close behind. Creating compelling content consistently can be challenging, but luckily, user generated content and the use of pictures is the most successful on these platforms. In fact, Facebook and Twitter posts have both proven to increase engagement by up to 150% when pictures are included. This is a no-brainer for golf courses, as some of their biggest selling points are their picturesque views, and capitalization of these social media strategies will increase overall engagement and value.

A corporate-sized advertising budget isn’t necessary in order to start utilizing digital marketing; effective, simple, and cost-efficient tools are available to help build a better online presence. Programs like Hootsuite and Google Analytics give businesses the ability to post content and analyze their effectiveness at little to no cost. A social media strategy is easily deployable as a majority of a course’s employees are already active on these platforms; encouraging staff members to give updates on their personal accounts not only increases job satisfaction, but also increases engagement of new customers. By educating employees on appropriate content to post, businesses still remain in control of their own brand and are able to hold consistency in the message they’re transcending.

Your marketing message (digital or not) is what your customers are experiencing before they get on your course, which is why having the right marketing strategy in place has the ability to alter the profitability of the business and the customers experience as a whole. The PGA of BC is built on solid foundation, with a passionate team dedicated to making the game the best it can be, so it’s exciting to see how digital marketing will change the energy in the industry. Now is the time to start executing a digital marketing strategy to grow your online presence! Take small steps to get started and don’t be afraid to try new things in this ever-changing digital world.
