WHERE WERE YOU BORN MITCH?
I was born and raised in Dauphin, Manitoba! I moved away when I was 17 years old to play sports in Salmon Arm, then a year later at the age of 18 I moved to Ithaca, New York, to play NCAA while I attended school. It didn’t end there, I lived in Dallas for a few summers while going to school and then in Phoenix for two years before moving back to Winnipeg! Now you can find me here in Kelowna! I’ve now lived here for about 5 years!
WHAT IS YOUR POSITION AT GETINTHELOOP?
Well, it seems to change a lot! I’ve done pretty much everything here except the coding or technological side! My current position is to provide a great experience to every person and business that comes in contact with GetintheLoop.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT WORKING AT GITL?
I would have to say seeing the development of our business and team. When I joined it was just Matt and I working from coffee shops, where we literally would jump from one to the other throughout the day ordering a coffee and hijacking wifi for 2…..3……4……5 hours at a time! I also love the team and culture. Everyone working hard, side by side; sharing a passion and common goal, and the challenge of creating a new path that will lead to continued success. The freedom to be entrepreneurial and the variety that everyday is different and provides an opportunity to learn. The challenge to be better.
WHEN YOU’RE NOT AT WORK, WHERE CAN WE FIND YOU?
You can find me involved with anything to do with sports and activities! The Okanagan is such a great place for the outdoor enthusiast; skiing, golfing, hockey, camping, hiking, swimming, volleyball or just a walk/run down the boardwalk! I take part in an Urban Rec league, skate every Wednesday in the winters, ski some weekend, camp most weekends in the summer, play ball hockey in the fall, and if not doing activities I can be found hanging at one of our Loop partners lounges or at a concert! Live music might be one of my favourite things to do.
Mitchy, naturally. Or Caddy – like the Cadillac. I think it’s because I am big, smooth, and pretty laid back on and off the ice. Reliable but not flashy.
Pasta. Anything you want to cook can be incorporated into a pasta dish while creating full complete flavours!
No phobias. I actually do want to go skydiving and bungee jumping! I also have my PADI for scuba but have never gone anywhere exotic!
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE BAND OR ARTIST?
Bruce Springsteen. I grew up listening to Bruce Springsteen and all of my dads music. Bruce was my favourite though. When I was living in Dallas with a good buddy of mine he found tickets online for a Springsteen concert that was a day and a half away. I called my dad to let him know and so he hopped in the car, drove 4 hours to the airport, took a milk run of a plane ride from Manitoba to Dallas and made it just in time for the concert. I have seen him in Vancouver and Phoenix since that first concert. I’ve also been known to do an air guitar concert every now and again…. It is mostly by demand though.
SOMETHING YOU ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO IN THE FUTURE?
More travel. I have been fortunate this far in my life to experience great countries! I have been to every state except Hawaii! From east coast to west coast in Canada, Greek Islands to Amsterdam on a Euro rail pass, a trip to Egypt and Africa as well as a little bit of time was spent in the Caribbean, but of course, Manitoba is the nicest place of them all.
