Penticton: A Place People Live Year-Round

May 23rd, 2018 Posted by blog, Okanagan, Things To Do No Comment yet

Whether you’re a snow lover, a sun worshipper, or anything in between, Penticton has something for you! With its ideal climate and stunning backdrop, the South-central Okanagan town is a great place to visit year round. Derived from the Interior Salish work snpintktn, that’s just what Penticton means: “a place people live year-round.”

From festivals and great restaurants to outdoor activities, Penticton has something for everyone, no matter what time of the year it is. Here are a few of our favourite year round Penticton activities!

With the onset of Spring comes the opening of Penticton’s famous Farmer’s Market. Every Saturday from May until October, head down to the 100 block of Main St in the heart of downtown Penticton, where you can find offerings from local farmers, artists, bakers, crafters and prepared food vendors.

Quench your thirst with a wine tour after you’ve finished at the market! Head up to Naramata Bench, or drive to Canada’s wine country and tour through Oliver and Osoyoos! Make sure you check out our wine loop for exclusive offers and experiences before you go!

Start your day with Epic Cycling Wine Adventure Tours! Epic Cycling offers guided rides for avid road cyclists who wish to explore Penticton’s beautiful wineries. Along with the ride of a lifetime, come and get a taste of Europe with a world-renowned wine region waiting for you to discover.

To cool off after your ride, cool off and lounge down the Penticton River Channel!  Grab a floatie (or you can rent one there for $10) and make your way to the north end of Penticton at 215 Riverside Drive for a relaxing afternoon. The best time of day to go is between 1:00pm and 6:00pm when the sun is the warmest. If you want to float the whole length of River Channel, you could leave a vehicle at the end of the channel at Skaha Lake, but parking is quite limited. Don’t feel like investing three or four hours to float? Get out at the midway point, where you can grab a bite at HounDogs Reztaurant and even get a bus back to the launch site!

You’re in Wine Country, why not take part in BC’s largest wine tasting and farmer’s market? Cropped, by Valley First, is an annual event in Penticton. In 2017, it will be held on October 6th and 7th at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. Featuring over 80 wineries and a fall farmer’s market, Cropped is a sensory and visual experience. Okanagan wineries and farmers come together to create a truly unique experience. Click here for more details.

Save some time and order some dinner from Skaha Pizza! Their artisan, thin crust creations are absolutely delicious and use fresh ingredients!

Home of champagne powder, the Okanagan Valley is the best place to partake in winter activities! Why not head to Apex Ski Resort just outside of Penticton? Not a skier? No problem! They have something for everyone. How about going for a skate on the 1km long, Zamboni maintained adventure ice loop! Skate through the trees and enjoy the beauty that Apex has to offer! Check out their website for more details!

If you’d rather stay indoors and avoid the snow, visit Penticton Virtual Reality Studio and pretend you’re in another world! Fend off the bad guys, explore space, or travel to a different world in a fully immersive virtual reality experience!

Stop in at Telegraph Tap House for Beerogies! Yes, you heard that right. Beer and perogies. We couldn’t come up with a better combination if we tried. Who ever thought of this truly deserves an award.

Take some time to just relax! Stop at Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden on Monday and spend the afternoon enjoying some peace and quiet. On Monday you can also take part in the yukata dressing ceremony, take a tour of the garden, or have a 20 minute reflexology session!

Go on an adult field trip with Edmonton Brewery Tours! Visit local distilleries or breweries and learn how your favourite beverages are made and, of course, enjoy samples along the way!

Grab 14 of your closest friends and book an Urban Pedal Tour! Pedal through town and stop at 3 unique breweries to fuel your ride!

Spring has sprung! We heard that this is the year you’re going to finally get that garden going! Visit the Enjoy Centre in St. Albert to turn your thumb green.

Chances are that time will get away from you while you’re outside planting your new garden. Wrap up May Long with a stress-free and always satisfying dinner from Boston Pizza.

The Penticton Vees Partner with GetintheLoop

September 12th, 2017 Posted by blog, Company, Okanagan, Things To Do No Comment yet

As Canadians, Hockey is pretty much in our blood from birth, it’s a right of passage, a way of life. Today we are excited to announce our newest partnership with the Penticton Vees, the defending BCHL Junior A Champions. Although it is commonly thought by many that the name “Vees” has to do with Victory, the name actually represents the 3 types of local peaches (Vedette, Valiant, and Veteran). Famous NHL alumni include Paul Kariya, Duncan Keith, Brett Hull, Ray Ferraro, Dante Fabbro, Tyson Jost and more!

Founder and CEO, Matt Crowell and Director of Enterprise Accounts, Mitch Carefoot both played professional hockey in the United States and overseas, showing that our love for hockey runs deep at GetintheLooop and our team members are Canadian to the core too! This couldn’t be a more perfect partnership.

With the recent partnership, GetintheLoop members will now receive special Penticton Vees offers directly to their mobile device before and after every home game.

“We want to keep pushing the envelope on our fan experience, and we felt strongly that GITL could help us achieve that for the fans of Vee’s nation. We’re excited to partner with GITL and launch some exciting new products that will make it easier than ever before for our fans to watch the Vees and get great value from some of our other partners here in Penticton” said Vees Director of Corporate Partnerships, David Michaud.

Outside the rink, GetintheLoop and the Penticton Vee’s are committed to combining their efforts to benefit the Vees fans, members of GetintheLoop and the community of Penticton (and surrounding area).

  • All GetintheLoop members whether local or visiting will be able to enjoy Family nights out, Boys nights out and holiday specials and more crafted by The Penticton Vee’s! No pre-purchase or printing needed, just show the GetintheLoop offer from your phone, it’s that easy.
  • For businesses, GetintheLoop attracts new customers, increase brand awareness, and increases loyalty with offers. The Vees and GetintheLoop are working with businesses in and around the SOEC and in downtown Penticton to create great experiences like a great dinner at Match followed by an awesome experience at a Vees home game. Join the community with both the Penticton Vee’s and GetintheLoop by giving us a call!

It’s shaping up to be a great hockey season for the Vees, as they start off the 2017-18 season defending their fourth BCHL Championship in the last ten years. With a perfect 4-0 preseason record, the Vees showed no sign of slowing down in the regular season with a 4-2 win over Merritt this past weekend.

The team at GetintheLoop is happy to see what is in-store for the partnership moving forward. Go Vees Go!
