Clover Valley Beer Fest 2018

July 25th, 2018 Posted by blog, Food + Drink, Things To Do, Vancouver No Comment yet

The team behind the Whistler Village Beer Festival and the Great Okanagan Beer Festival are finally bringing the brews and good times to the lower mainland! Grab your friends and head on down to the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre on August 11 for the Clover Valley Beer Festival presented by The Property Twins! With 40 breweries, local food trucks, and a sweet lineup of live music, we’re guaranteeing FOMO if you don’t have tickets.

Breweries from across BC, out of province, and across the border are invited to sample two brews of their choice. Get excited to enjoy some of your go-to’s and to try some new favourite lagers, IPA’s, ales, porters, saisons and sours! Not a beer fan? Don’t worry! There will be plenty of cider houses sampling their delicious (and gluten-free!) creations.

Listen to the live bands while you snack on food from Sammy J’s Grill and Bar, who are serving up gourmet grilled cheese; Mike’s Perfect Perogy’s, one of our personal favourites (is anything better than perogies?!); Urban Woodfired Pizza, with thin crust and fresh ingredients, it’s hard to beat this pizza; and Meat2Eat, who have everything from authentic mediterranean cuisine to hot dogs!

In case you need another reason to come out on August 11th, proceeds from ticket sales will be going to Twins Cancer Fundraising, a charity created by a couple of rad guys (yes, they are identical twins) who have made it their mission to put an end to cancer.

General admission tickets are $45 and Express Pass tickets are $60. But we’ve arranged a sweet little offer for 15% off tickets! Get the details right here.

Oh… we almost forgot… did we mention that we’re giving away tickets? Keep checking our Instagram and Facebook pages for chance to win tickets to #CVBF2018 for you and your friends!

You NEED To Eat Here: Edmonton Edition

July 24th, 2018 Posted by blog, Edmonton, Food + Drink No Comment yet

Looking to mix up your regular weekend routine and try out some new restaurants in Edmonton? We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite (and unique) places to go out in Edmonton!

El Cortez Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar

Specializing in traditional Mexican food with a modern twist, El Cortez is one of the coolest spots in Edmonton. Located just off of Whyte Ave, El Cortez has an impressive cocktail list, with no artificial ingredients, syrups, sour mixes or juices. One of only nine establishments in the world recognized by Consejo Regulador del Tequila (Tequila Regulatory Board), El Cortez is the only place to go in Edmonton if you want to have an latin inspired night.

Check out all of our El Cortez offers HERE.

The Holy Roller

Walk down to the Holy Roller, just a few doors from El Cortez, for a trip back to the 30’s with an eclectic twist. With a “no concept” menu, you have a variety of choices to pick from, which are just as unique as the decor. From pad thai, to deep dish pizza, to pinxtos (an appetizer originating from Northern Spain) you’ll be taken on a culinary journey with Holy Roller’s menu. Make sure you explore the entire restaurant, as each room is decorated different from the rest. You’ll be so enthralled with the decor, you might even forget that you came for a meal!
Check out all of our Holy Roller offers HERE.

Have Mercy

Step in to Have Mercy and all of a sudden you’re transported to a honky tonk in Nashville. With a menu full of southern comfort food, whiskey based cocktails, and live music, Have Mercy is the real southern deal. It’s important to note that Have Mercy is not the place if you want a quiet night out or a light meal. One of their more popular dishes is fried chicken and donuts and their motto is “WHERE WE EAT GOOD FOOD, DRINK BOOZE, AND TALK LOUD!” Make sure you check out Have Mercy on social media to stay up to date on the live music performers for the night.

Check out all of our Have Mercy offers HERE.

Cask and Barrel

Wanting to be your ‘home away from home’, Cask and Barrel succeeds with their cozy decor and home cooked meals. With an affordable menu and daily drink specials, Cask and Barrel is your go to after-work spot. With a sidewalk patio, it’s the perfect place to catch some rays and people watch downtown. Make sure you stop in on Saturday night, when they have live music playing every week at 4 pm.

Check out all of our Cask and Barrel offers HERE.

Rocky Mountain Icehouse

Originating in Texas as a way to supply the town with blocks of ice, icehouses were historically a gathering place to escape the heat and enjoy a cold one with friends. Located in a 110 year old building on Jasper Ave, Rocky Mountain Icehouse brings some of that Southern charm to Edmonton. With an extensive menu full of sharable items, Rocky Mountain Icehouse is the perfect place to gather with friends after work, or to meet up at on the weekend. Make sure you give the Hushpuppies and Scooby Snacks a try, they’re some of our personal favourites!

Check out our offers at Rocky Mountain Icehouse HERE.

Who would think to find this quality ratio to price at the Casino? Family Friendly as well!”

Unique Pizzas From Around The World

February 9th, 2018 Posted by blog, Food + Drink No Comment yet

Did you know that there are approximately 5 billion pizzas sold, worldwide, per year?

Pizza is a staple in some diets and a treat in others, but however you slice it, we love pizza. To celebrate National Pizza Day today (February 9th) we’ve compiled some of the most unusual pizza toppings from different corners of the world for you to sink your teeth in to.

Cookie Dough Pizza – South Korea
Cookie dough – Check. Pizza Crust – Check. Prawns – Check. Sweet Potato – Check. The Grand Prix, South Korean pizza literally has it all and apparently tastes like a European soft cookie. Traditionally this pizza comes with a blueberry dipping sauce to slather the crust in after you’re done eating all the toppings first, which means we’ve now put it on our pizza bucket list.unique pizzas cookie dough pizza

Breakfast Pizza – England
These are two of our favourite things combined: Pizza… and breakfast, and only in England would they get it 100% spot on. What a way to kick off the day with potatoes, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, baked beans, cheese and sunny-side-up eggs. Looking for a great way to start the day? This recipe is an absolute corker, and you’d be barmy not to give it a try!

Thai Crocodile Pizza – Australia
Crocodile Dundee would love this pizza! A mix of Thai, basil, chilli’s and lime, this pizza is powerful in flavour and is sure to satisfy all cravings. It’s even been said by locals that it is the most fabulous pizza ever. Interested in trying it? Check out the recipe here. Note: the recipe includes crocodile fillets which you might not find easily at your local grocery store.

Banana Curry Pizza – Sweden
A Swedish twist on the traditional “Hawaiian” pizza. Curry sauce, thin slices of ham, banana and pineapple rings. This popular Swedish pizza would likely appear on a menu under Classics, and combines sweet, salty, and spicy flavours. Want to try it? Get the recipe here!

Horse Meat Pizza – Denmark
It looks great… but not sure if we’d pony up for this one. Don’t believe it’s real? Check it out!

Cicada Pizza – USA
This one might bug some people and it is definitely not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure! Although the toppings can be caught for free in the right hot place, these nutty tasting cicadas might tickle on the way down. Got some cicadas lying around? Turn them into your own pizza!

Something Fishy – Russia
One of the most commonly consumed pizzas in Russia happens to bethe one named after the capital of Moscow, Mockba. Served cold and topped with onions and herbs, this pizza also can have five different types of fish on it: sardines, tuna, mackerel, salmon and red herring. Heading to Moscow soon? Check out the 15 best places to get a pizza!
