GetintheLoop Expands in Edmonton

January 14th, 2019 Posted by blog, Company, Edmonton No Comment yet

Edmonton was the first city in Alberta that GetintheLoop launched in.  And now, with two new franchisees focusing on Edmonton, we’re so excited to share that Edmonton residents will soon have access to so many more offers and experiences at local businesses in their community, delivered directly to their phones!

GetintheLoop members across BC and Alberta enjoy access to offers and experiences at restaurants, hotels, sporting events, golf courses, wineries, and so much more!

Why do our members love the GetintheLoop app? They get to discover new businesses in their city, never prepay for an offer, and experience more for less. And it’s so easy – simply show the offer in-store and redeem the offer on the spot.

We are so excited to grow this mobile experience in the Edmonton region that we decided to launch a giveaway. When Edmonton residents sign up to be a GetintheLoop member (it’s free), they’ll be automatically entered to win up to $500 in prizes from local businesses.

Sign up to be a GetintheLoop member here.

Stay ‘in the loop’ with everything in Edmonton by following GetintheLoop Edmonton on Instagram and Facebook!

“It’s an exciting time! With the expansion of GetintheLoop Local, our franchise division, we can’t wait for local businesses to be able to reach more Edmonton residents through our mobile platform,” said GetintheLoop founder and CEO, Matt Crowell.

GetintheLoop is an intelligent mobile marketing platform that connects businesses with local consumers. Have You Been to Fringe Festival?

July 24th, 2018 Posted by blog, Edmonton, Things To Do No Comment yet

Every year in August, the largest theatre festival in North America takes place in Edmonton, Alberta. Created to showcase unique artists and to foster creativity through interaction with the audience, all artists are selected through a lottery to ensure there’s a wide range of ability and talent.

Back In 1947 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Fringe Festival began when eight theatre companies were denied access to an international festival and decided to set up on the outer fringe of the festival grounds. You can now find Fringe Festivals all over the world, with 23 in North America alone!

Not sure where to get started? Explore the program guide at the beginning of August to read descriptions on each of the performances.  If you’re feeling adventurous you can see which tickets are discounted day-of or choose a performance using their ‘randomizer’! You can watch over 1,600 performances at over 45 venues within Old Strathcona! Between the indoor plays, outdoor street shows, vendors, musicians, and beer gardens, you’re guaranteed to find something you love at Fringe.

For more information on the Fringe Festival, make sure you check out their website and read all of their FAQs. If you’re a First Time Fringer this year, GetintheLoop members receive $5 off their purchase.

You NEED To Eat Here: Edmonton Edition

July 24th, 2018 Posted by blog, Edmonton, Food + Drink No Comment yet

Looking to mix up your regular weekend routine and try out some new restaurants in Edmonton? We’ve put together a list of some of our favourite (and unique) places to go out in Edmonton!

El Cortez Mexican Kitchen + Tequila Bar

Specializing in traditional Mexican food with a modern twist, El Cortez is one of the coolest spots in Edmonton. Located just off of Whyte Ave, El Cortez has an impressive cocktail list, with no artificial ingredients, syrups, sour mixes or juices. One of only nine establishments in the world recognized by Consejo Regulador del Tequila (Tequila Regulatory Board), El Cortez is the only place to go in Edmonton if you want to have an latin inspired night.

Check out all of our El Cortez offers HERE.

The Holy Roller

Walk down to the Holy Roller, just a few doors from El Cortez, for a trip back to the 30’s with an eclectic twist. With a “no concept” menu, you have a variety of choices to pick from, which are just as unique as the decor. From pad thai, to deep dish pizza, to pinxtos (an appetizer originating from Northern Spain) you’ll be taken on a culinary journey with Holy Roller’s menu. Make sure you explore the entire restaurant, as each room is decorated different from the rest. You’ll be so enthralled with the decor, you might even forget that you came for a meal!
Check out all of our Holy Roller offers HERE.

Have Mercy

Step in to Have Mercy and all of a sudden you’re transported to a honky tonk in Nashville. With a menu full of southern comfort food, whiskey based cocktails, and live music, Have Mercy is the real southern deal. It’s important to note that Have Mercy is not the place if you want a quiet night out or a light meal. One of their more popular dishes is fried chicken and donuts and their motto is “WHERE WE EAT GOOD FOOD, DRINK BOOZE, AND TALK LOUD!” Make sure you check out Have Mercy on social media to stay up to date on the live music performers for the night.

Check out all of our Have Mercy offers HERE.

Cask and Barrel

Wanting to be your ‘home away from home’, Cask and Barrel succeeds with their cozy decor and home cooked meals. With an affordable menu and daily drink specials, Cask and Barrel is your go to after-work spot. With a sidewalk patio, it’s the perfect place to catch some rays and people watch downtown. Make sure you stop in on Saturday night, when they have live music playing every week at 4 pm.

Check out all of our Cask and Barrel offers HERE.

Rocky Mountain Icehouse

Originating in Texas as a way to supply the town with blocks of ice, icehouses were historically a gathering place to escape the heat and enjoy a cold one with friends. Located in a 110 year old building on Jasper Ave, Rocky Mountain Icehouse brings some of that Southern charm to Edmonton. With an extensive menu full of sharable items, Rocky Mountain Icehouse is the perfect place to gather with friends after work, or to meet up at on the weekend. Make sure you give the Hushpuppies and Scooby Snacks a try, they’re some of our personal favourites!

Check out our offers at Rocky Mountain Icehouse HERE.

Pack your Bags and Head to Edmonton!

July 10th, 2018 Posted by blog, Edmonton No Comment yet

With the constant (and playful) rivalry between Alberta’s two largest cities, it’s easy to overlook Edmonton and focus on Calgary. However, Edmonton has a lot to offer and shouldn’t be ignored. It’s one of the youngest and fastest growing cities in Canada. Despite the frigid temperatures it’s known for, Edmonton is actually one of the sunniest cities in the country! To top it off, the city is home to the largest urban parkland in Canada (take that, Calgary!)

Known to be a very blue collar city, Edmonton has a strong love for the arts and has even been dubbed “Festival City”. Hosting over 50 cultural, heritage, sport and music festivals throughout the year, Edmonton has an event for everyone. Their emphasis on festivals even earned recognition from National Geographic, who dubbed them one of the “Top Summer Vacation Destinations” in the world! If you’d rather stay indoors, Edmonton is also famously known to have the biggest mall in Canada. Besides countless stores and restaurants, West Edmonton Mall boasts an amusement park, a water park, a hotel, a mini golf course, a skating rink, and an aquarium complete with four resident sea lions!

In case you need more convincing before you pack your bags, Edmonton is one of the best cities to get ahead as a millennial. Not only home to one of Canada’s top universities, the University of Alberta, Edmonton also has a very strong economy. Despite the downturn that Calgary experienced in recent years, Edmonton’s median household take home income is $82,000, significantly higher than Canada’s average. In addition, the average cost of a home is only $389,330, which is drastically lower than other Canadian metropolitan cities.

Explore Edmonton for yourself with the help of GetintheLoop. Discover exclusive offers and unique experiences from our partners across the city. Download the free app here to get started.
