The Wine Tour You Need To Go On

May 9th, 2018 Posted by blog, Okanagan, Wine No Comment yet

The Okanagan wine region has consistently been voted #1 & #2 on various rankings across the world.

The fertile soil and dry summer heat creates a nearly perfect climate to grow different varietals of grapes. With over 120 wineries located within the Okanagan, it can be difficult to figure out where to go first!  Don’t worry, we’re here to guide you on your wine tasting journey.

Stop #1 Covert Farms Family Estate

Passionate about Farm to Table dining, Covert Farms is a certified organic farm and vineyard. Tour their picturesque, 650-acre property while you learn about sustainable farming. Oh, the best part? On the tour you’ll get to dive in to freshly grown organic produce, charcuterie and (of course) wine!

Stop #2 River Stone Estate Winery

Nestled just north of Oliver, the “wine capital” of Canada, River Stone is a small, family owned, hidden gem! Stop in, taste some of their delicious wines, and of course, pet their adorable Golden Retrievers!

Stop #3 Quinta Ferreira Estate Winery

With owners who were both born in Portugal, you’ll notice notes of their heritage throughout their winery. We suggest enjoying a glass of wine out on their patio, it feels like you’ve been transported to the Mediterranean!

Stop #4 Hidden Chapel Winery

With a small chapel hidden in the back of the property, it’s easy to see how Hidden Chapel got it’s name. Try their award winning names and have a chuckle at the unique names they’ve all been given.

Stop #5 Black Hills Estate Winery

Located on the Black Sage Bench, Black Hills Estate Winery is truly stunning. With sweeping views and a swimming pool, you’ll want to stay all afternoon! Ensure you try their signature wine, the Nota Bene, which has been in production for almost 20 years. Don’t forget to purchase a ticket to their Midsummer Night’s Dream event in August, it’s the hottest party of the summer!

Stop #6 Kismet Estate Winery

You have to make a stop at Kismet, an Indian owned and run winery, whose Punjabi name means ‘Destiny’. Stop in for lunch at their restaurant for delicious Indian food that pairs perfectly with their wines!

Stop #7 Burrowing Owl Estate Winery

After once being named extinct in the province, Burrowing Owl numbers are growing within BC, thanks in part to Burrowing Owl Winery. In fact, since 2002, Burrowing Owl Estate Winery has contributed almost a million dollars to Burrowing Owl conservation efforts! Also known for their award-winning wines, we suggest sipping on their Syrah or Chardonnay!
