Four Provinces, Three Roles, Two Years, One Wolfpack

Hello! My name is Brennan Reidy. I was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and this month marks my second year anniversary working with the team at GetintheLoop.

I moved to Kelowna in 2011 to chase my dream of playing college baseball. I played all four years for the Okanagan College Coyotes, followed by a couple of years as a coach. After graduating with a Degree in Business, I decided not to go back to Moose Jaw and join our family business; I fell in love with the City of Kelowna and the new local community I now call home.

Baseball was my biggest passion, but after graduation I was searching for something new to fall in love with, searching for something I could dedicate my life to being really good at. I was missing that feeling of working on my craft and seeing the reward that came with it.  I found this passion again after joining GetintheLoop in 2017. I fell in love with the challenge of helping grow a technology start-up. I found that I thrived in the fast pace of this company and discovered I had the drive and passion to help build our business across Canada and beyond.  But most importantly, knowing that what I am doing every day also provides value to small business owners from coast to coast is pretty cool too.

After working in our service team, I quickly moved to a direct sales role. I found that I could relate to sales – every single at-bat is a new challenge against a pitcher. Every single meeting is a new opportunity to do better and be better. In baseball, you are in the Hall of Fame if you are a .300 hitter –  if you get a hit 3 out of 10 times, that’s crazy! This was just like sales to me. Selling 1 in 10 businesses is also a success. This is what I could relate to and this fuelled my competitive drive and further believe that our GetintheLoop Platform can help local businesses be better marketers and help local economies thrive.

At first thought, sales can be a turn off. The idea of walking into a business completely cold and presenting them something new can be terrifying. This was my first thought before diving in. I didn’t want to be known as that typical ‘salesperson’. However, once I found that confidence in myself, it became easy, it became a normal conversation but at the same time, it kind of became a game of navigating the conversation and articulating how our solution can help improve their business outcomes. I loved it!

In 2018 we developed an innovative franchise model to bring GetintheLoop to more communities across Canada. Along with this, I’m now a Market Development Manager supporting our Local Teams across Canada. I have the pleasure of training, supporting and working with some of our 30+ Local Market teams all across Canada!

As part of this role I get to travel to a lot of local communities that make up this great country. Not a lot of people can say they have been to Dauphin Manitoba; well I have! It has been an incredible experience so far. Not just for the places I’ve been, but for the people I have met and the opportunity it has given me.

I have always told myself that I should always continue to find new opportunities that allow me to grow in my career and stretch outside my comfort zone. I am able to share my knowledge about our product, my sales approach, our value but the one main thing I have learned from Local Owners is the importance of being part of their community. The importance of being involved; not only does this help to grow your network but you also give back to the people you meet that make each community special.

Being part of GetintheLoop has given me the opportunity to work with people with all sorts of experience and backgrounds. I am so fortunate to learn from our leadership team that we have in Kelowna. They continue to push us to be better and do better, all together as one Wolfpack. I am also fortunate to learn from 30+ Local GetntheLoop Owners from all over Canada. My role is to train and support them to ensure their business is successful, but I honestly believe each and every one of them has helped me more than I have helped them.

This job has given me the knowledge to grow, the people to learn from, and experiences that I will take with me for the rest of my life.

At GetintheLoop, I fell in love with the challenge, the grind, and the wins – and I definitely fell in love with the Wolfpack!
