Penticton: A Place People Live Year-Round

Posted by Press No Comment yet

Whether you’re a snow lover, a sun worshipper, or anything in between, Penticton has something for you! With its ideal climate and stunning backdrop, the South-central Okanagan town is a great place to visit year round. Derived from the Interior Salish work snpintktn, that’s just what Penticton means: “a place people live year-round.”

From festivals and great restaurants to outdoor activities, Penticton has something for everyone, no matter what time of the year it is. Here are a few of our favourite year round Penticton activities!

With the onset of Spring comes the opening of Penticton’s famous Farmer’s Market. Every Saturday from May until October, head down to the 100 block of Main St in the heart of downtown Penticton, where you can find offerings from local farmers, artists, bakers, crafters and prepared food vendors.

Quench your thirst with a wine tour after you’ve finished at the market! Head up to Naramata Bench, or drive to Canada’s wine country and tour through Oliver and Osoyoos! Make sure you check out our wine loop for exclusive offers and experiences before you go!

Start your day with Epic Cycling Wine Adventure Tours! Epic Cycling offers guided rides for avid road cyclists who wish to explore Penticton’s beautiful wineries. Along with the ride of a lifetime, come and get a taste of Europe with a world-renowned wine region waiting for you to discover.

To cool off after your ride, cool off and lounge down the Penticton River Channel!  Grab a floatie (or you can rent one there for $10) and make your way to the north end of Penticton at 215 Riverside Drive for a relaxing afternoon. The best time of day to go is between 1:00pm and 6:00pm when the sun is the warmest. If you want to float the whole length of River Channel, you could leave a vehicle at the end of the channel at Skaha Lake, but parking is quite limited. Don’t feel like investing three or four hours to float? Get out at the midway point, where you can grab a bite at HounDogs Reztaurant and even get a bus back to the launch site!

You’re in Wine Country, why not take part in BC’s largest wine tasting and farmer’s market? Cropped, by Valley First, is an annual event in Penticton. In 2017, it will be held on October 6th and 7th at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. Featuring over 80 wineries and a fall farmer’s market, Cropped is a sensory and visual experience. Okanagan wineries and farmers come together to create a truly unique experience. Click here for more details.

Save some time and order some dinner from Skaha Pizza! Their artisan, thin crust creations are absolutely delicious and use fresh ingredients!

Home of champagne powder, the Okanagan Valley is the best place to partake in winter activities! Why not head to Apex Ski Resort just outside of Penticton? Not a skier? No problem! They have something for everyone. How about going for a skate on the 1km long, Zamboni maintained adventure ice loop! Skate through the trees and enjoy the beauty that Apex has to offer! Check out their website for more details!

If you’d rather stay indoors and avoid the snow, visit Penticton Virtual Reality Studio and pretend you’re in another world! Fend off the bad guys, explore space, or travel to a different world in a fully immersive virtual reality experience!

The Wine Tour You Need To Go On

Posted by Press No Comment yet

The Okanagan wine region has consistently been voted #1 & #2 on various rankings across the world.

The fertile soil and dry summer heat creates a nearly perfect climate to grow different varietals of grapes. With over 120 wineries located within the Okanagan, it can be difficult to figure out where to go first!  Don’t worry, we’re here to guide you on your wine tasting journey.

Stop #1 Covert Farms Family Estate

Passionate about Farm to Table dining, Covert Farms is a certified organic farm and vineyard. Tour their picturesque, 650-acre property while you learn about sustainable farming. Oh, the best part? On the tour you’ll get to dive in to freshly grown organic produce, charcuterie and (of course) wine!

Stop #2 River Stone Estate Winery

Nestled just north of Oliver, the “wine capital” of Canada, River Stone is a small, family owned, hidden gem! Stop in, taste some of their delicious wines, and of course, pet their adorable Golden Retrievers!

Stop #3 Quinta Ferreira Estate Winery

With owners who were both born in Portugal, you’ll notice notes of their heritage throughout their winery. We suggest enjoying a glass of wine out on their patio, it feels like you’ve been transported to the Mediterranean!

Stop #4 Hidden Chapel Winery

With a small chapel hidden in the back of the property, it’s easy to see how Hidden Chapel got it’s name. Try their award winning names and have a chuckle at the unique names they’ve all been given.

Stop #5 Black Hills Estate Winery

Located on the Black Sage Bench, Black Hills Estate Winery is truly stunning. With sweeping views and a swimming pool, you’ll want to stay all afternoon! Ensure you try their signature wine, the Nota Bene, which has been in production for almost 20 years. Don’t forget to purchase a ticket to their Midsummer Night’s Dream event in August, it’s the hottest party of the summer!

Stop #6 Kismet Estate Winery

You have to make a stop at Kismet, an Indian owned and run winery, whose Punjabi name means ‘Destiny’. Stop in for lunch at their restaurant for delicious Indian food that pairs perfectly with their wines!

Stop #7 Burrowing Owl Estate Winery

After once being named extinct in the province, Burrowing Owl numbers are growing within BC, thanks in part to Burrowing Owl Winery. In fact, since 2002, Burrowing Owl Estate Winery has contributed almost a million dollars to Burrowing Owl conservation efforts! Also known for their award-winning wines, we suggest sipping on their Syrah or Chardonnay!

We’ve made it easy to visit your favourite winery or try something new! In the GetintheLoop app, simply click on the Wine loop to browse exclusive offers and experiences from 40+ winery partners. Ah hockey…Canada’s favourite winter sport! Hockey is a staple in many Canadian households, and we are excited to announce that the Victoria Royals and GetintheLoop have teamed up. The Victoria Royals are in the Western Hockey League (WHL) and play their home games at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in downtown Victoria.

The Royals have been entertaining fans since their arrival for the 2011-12 season. The team has been a perennial playoff performer playing a fast and exciting style. The team won the Scotty Munro Trophy as they finished atop the regular season standings during the 2015-16 season. The team has had 10 players drafted by NHL teams, and this year saw their first ever player, Joe Hicketts, play in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings.

This year the Royals have been playing great hockey and were ranked as the top team in the CHL in the fall. The team is in the home stretch as they prepare for a long playoff run, which they are hoping ends by hoisting the Ed Chynoweth Cup as league champions! The games at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre are a great family night out with loads of entertainment value on-and-off the ice.

The Royal’s partnership with GetintheLoop is going to mean great things for GetintheLoop members. Ricky’s All Day Grill: A Powerful Partnership

Posted by Press No Comment yet

At GetintheLoop we love working with all of our partners but we get especially amped up when we get a chance to work with a highly engaged and active partner. Ricky’s All Day Grill in Victoria is one of those partners who shares our vision for building GetintheLoop in their community with compelling offers delivered with an exceptional customer experience, and we are excited to share their story in our new GetintheLoop Partner Profile.

Darrell and Gary, Co-owners of Ricky’s in Victoria, wanted to know more about what GetintheLoop for Business could do for Ricky’s All Day Grill. After learning that GetintheLoop would improve loyalty with his current customers while also attracting new customers, Gary and Darrell jumped on board, and created strong offers such as “50% Off Burgers”, “Eat Free On Your Birthday”, “Buy 1 Get 1 Free Meals” and “Free Breakfast With Beverage”. He was interested in learning more about his customers, and GetintheLoop’s user-friendly dashboard provided him and his team with insights into the ages and demographics of members who saw, engaged with, and used his offers. With these market research insights, They could not only optimize their offers but also their business’s other marketing and promotions. The offers that Ricky’s created were promoted to audiences in Victoria in addition to being featured in GetintheLoop digital display ads on Google and Facebook.

Understanding costs helped Ricky’s Victoria accurately measure the return on investment with GetintheLoop. Darrell and Gary found that the increase in overall customer visits outweighed the reduced margins on sales, and even giving away a breakfast with a beverage purchase was profitable. Not only did Ricky’s profit from each promotion, they also attracted new regular customers who visited after seeing Ricky’s on GetintheLoop.

Compelling Offers Drive Behaviour Changes

Two stories stand out that showcase why compelling offers attract new members and create loyalty.

Taking the time to price out each promotion, Gary and Darrell created the “Free Breakfast with Purchase of a Beverage” promotion, targeting business commuters and surrounding college students. Offering their two egg breakfast starting at $3.19 and add-ons starting at $3.99, Darrell and Gary not only made their costs back, but they were able to attract the target demographics as repeat customers. One group in particular came in for free breakfast and loved their experience so much that they came back the following day with all their friends for Ricky’s All Day Happy Hour, settling out a bill of just over $100. The Ricky’s Victoria team now see this group quite often, as they have told their friends about what Ricky’s has to offer and have become regulars.

Another story which highlights the value of creating a compelling offer is Ricky’s “Eat for Free on Your Birthday”. This offer attracted a party of 25 people who regularly visited Ricky’s competitors. However, one of the party attendees spotted the “Eat for Free on Your Birthday” offer on GetintheLoop, and the group decided to try Ricky’s All Day Grill instead. After having an exceptional experience, several members of that one group now regularly visit Ricky’s Victoria.

The Ricky’s Victoria team pride themselves on providing a great customer experience, service, and food. Using GetintheLoop as a strategic marketing tool, they were able to attract, retain, and create loyalty among customers. Gary and Darrell worked with the GetintheLoop team to create compelling offers and spent real time with GetintheLoop, promoting through Facebook, word of mouth, referrals etc. With provided GetintheLoop marketing materials (billfolds, door decals and table toppers), Darrell and Gary increased their success by making sure GetintheLoop was visible at Ricky’s Victoria.

Successful Partnerships Work Both Ways

Creating intriguing and compelling experiences and offers is what drives potential customers to change their behaviour. GetintheLoop drives new customers to your business giving you the opportunity to create lifelong customers. Ricky’s experience demonstrates the importance of creating compelling offers that change consumer behaviour. GetintheLoop is different from other services as offers can be changed in an instant which means that, as a business, you can try new things, get creative, and have no risk in trying things like offering Free Breakfast.

With a GetintheLoop for Business partnership, your dedicated team works with you to establish goals, create a plan, and find success with mobile marketing. When a new business partner signs up and provides intriguing offers, GetintheLoop promotes the strongest offers via additional marketing channels and to a wider audience – not only on the app but also in email, contesting, newsletters, push notifications, radio, blog posts, social media shout-outs, at events and more. Marketing to new and existing customers can be easy – let GetintheLoop help you find the best marketing strategy for your business. As Darrell and Gary say, “The support is amazing, the app and the dashboard are easy to use, I would suggest GetintheLoop to new businesses and established businesses alike”.
