The all new GetintheLoop launches on Android – more offers than ever before!

Posted by Press No Comment yet

We are very excited to announce major updates to the design and experience of GetintheLoop including more offers than ever before! This update is live now on Android and the GetintheLoop website.

We regularly receive great ideas and feedback from our incredible community of members and businesses. Members of GetintheLoop are always looking to find more great offers near them that appeal to their interests. GetintheLoop businesses often request the ability to promote an existing promotion alongside their exclusive offers on GetintheLoop and want to publish more offers. That feedback has been incorporated into GetintheLoop 3.0, with more offers than ever before and a brand new design.

Now With More Offers Than Ever
We are including more content than ever in GetintheLoop based on our member’s desire to see more offers near them. This means more offers in more places from more businesses than ever before. Businesses can now list 66% more offers than before and can also list their top promotions on GetintheLoop. We continue to work with our partners to provide exclusive and compelling offers that members love.

The evolution of GetintheLoop from 2015 to today.

A Whole New Design
At GetintheLoop we’ve been using card style design in our apps since the beginning, and we’ve made major updates to our look and feel to modernize and streamline the member experience. We’ve made these changes to make it easier to find a place you want and see all of their offers.

We’ve updated the view you’ll see when opening the app, making it easier to see all the offers from each business.

All the offers for a business are available by simply swiping left or right on an offer in the views including the all-new home view. Offers exclusive to GetintheLoop are shown first, followed by other available offers. A quick swipe up or down will scroll through the businesses around with offers available nearby.

The offer view now includes improved images, a quick way to see every location where an offer is valid, and one-touch directions so you can easily find your way to a business.

The map view is one of the most popular ways to discover businesses on GetintheLoop wherever we travel across Western Canada. The map view now includes customized icons to show which category an offer belongs to. Finding great offers in categories like Food + Drink, or Home + Auto, is easier than ever before from the enhanced map view.

We encourage you to explore the new GetintheLoop experience, available today on Android. There’s also a fully redesigned web experience. Check out the new version today and tell us what you think!

35+ Ideas for Celebrating the Month of Love in BC and Alberta!

Posted by Press No Comment yet

While the tongue in cheek ‘Single’s Awareness Day’ was started in opposition to the Hallmark holiday that is Valentine’s Day, it has evolved into a celebration of love in all forms, recognizing not only romantic love, but also the love between friends and family, and also the love you have for yourself. That is what Valentine’s Day is all about, and at GetintheLoop, we are excited to celebrate everyone on February 14th this year.

Every day should be a celebration of love and positive relationships

It’s true, every day should be a celebration of love. That being said, we could be in hot water if we don’t do a little something special for those we love around this special date. We’ve been hearing that this year many people are planning on avoiding the insanity of February the 14th and are instead celebrating their love in the weeks leading up to, and after, the special day, thus opting out of being elbow-to-elbow to other tables of two in a cramped and busy restaurant.

GetintheLoop has you covered!

Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to do to celebrate this special time with your loved ones. But now, we’ve got you covered with over 35 offers highlighted below, including experiences, a night out, gifts, and getaways.

Trends to Transform Your Business in 2018

Posted by Press No Comment yet

The important trends that can practically transform your business this year aren’t the flashiest major new trends you may have read about in other lists like Artificial Intelligence or Cryptocurrency. These ‘hot’ trends aren’t relevant to most businesses, yet. Adopting trends too early can be a devastating decision for any sized business so it’s understandable that most businesses take a wait and see approach to the hottest annual trends.

Mobile is the dominant trend overall but we quickly realized that mobile, rather than being a trend, is the wholesale transition from the use of larger less portable devices like desktop computers or laptops to using mobile devices to manage communications and business operations from the palm of your hand.

We considered practical trends in the context of different businesses including a small restaurant or food truck, a speciality retailer like a private clothing label, a traditional restaurateur, and a large shopping centre. This is the first in a series that will feature the changing landscape for businesses in 2018 and beyond including practical tips on how to take advantage of these major trends to transform your business.

Frictionless Payments…
provide better options for payments and purchases

Businesses are more likely than ever to use the same systems and devices to manage purchases, inventory and sales. As we explore frictionless payments we’ll discuss both sides of the equation as business collect and distribute payments. Processing fees and credit card rewards can be optimized to squeak out an additional %1 which may seem small but in a business doing $1 million in sales per year would mean an additional $10,000 of profit.

Close the Distance…
with on-demand delivery and transportation services

If a smaller business selling doughnuts or knitted baby clothes wants their products delivered they might connect with a service for order processing and shipping/delivery like Shopify or Canada Post and for food SkipTheDishes, DoorDash, or Uber Eats. Skip The Dishes currently supports the most cities in Western Canada. It’s important to watch your margins when using these services as they may take 20-30% of your sale but they also handle ordering and payment processing providing some additional value. The size of your city and region will determine what on demand services are available for your business.

Scale Yourself…
with free and low-cost software for business operations

Free and low-cost services for day-to-day business operations are streamlining a lot of manual work and putting information into the cloud allowing management and communications from mobile devices instantly. Businesses might use software services for payroll (Rise is free with 20 employees or less), accounting and bookkeeping (Quickbooks and Freshbooks offer free trials and ~$15/month options), and scheduling (When I Work and Homebase offer always free options).

Reach out and in
with digital communications and offers

Using social networks for communications at scale and personal communications alike is still of growing importance but we’ve been hearing that for years. It’s now more about the new and emerging technologies solutions to reach and drive potential customers like GetintheLoop! A big trend this year is something we call your advisory board in your pocket. Using private text groups, slack, or messenger groups on Facebook to communicate with other business owners, employees, or stakeholders to share information in real-time are emerging as valuable communications solutions for businesses and families alike.

Today many businesses can use their smartphone or tablet for almost everything they need to do day-to-day. We’ll be diving deep into each of these trends in upcoming posts where explore in detail how these four trends are changing the way business is done at all kinds of businesses from shopping centres to small one-person businesses.

GetintheLoop on Vancouver Radio and TV

Posted by Press No Comment yet

We’ve been speaking with a lot of businesses, media, and members across Western Canada in recent weeks. It’s been great to spread the word about Western Canada’s best offers and share the story of GetintheLoop with such great audiences. On December 2nd CEO Matt Crowell joined radio veteran Stirling Faux on Vancouver’s Consumer Saturday show on CKNW 980. Matt and Stirling spoke about a number of topics including the shifting landscape of consumer technology, business offers, and advertising in the mobile era. Matt also discussed the origins of GetintheLoop and shared some of our vision for the future.

This Fall we also spoke with Alyssa Dawson of Vancouver’s Novus TV in downtown Vancouver about GetintheLoop’s launch there this past summer and where we are heading in the future. CEO Matt Crowell and Alyssa Dawson sat down to enjoy a meal at GetintheLoop partner the Shark Club to dive deeper into how GetintheLoop works for Business.

A Night of Lights at Hillside Centre

Posted by Press No Comment yet

On Sunday, November 19, our longtime partner Hillside Centre hosted the 17th annual Night of Lights event. This after-hours shopping extravaganza includes fabulous in-store discounts at every retailer, tasty treats delivered by elves, photos with Santa Claus, live entertainment, and hundreds of door prizes. Thousands of eager shoppers line up hours in advance to get access to one night of spectacular deals from Hillside’s retailers. Better yet, 100% of ticket sales go directly to over 65 local charities.

In years past, retailer offers have been kept secret until the doors opened. This year, for the first time ever, offers from every retailer were available on the GetintheLoop app and website, so shoppers could access offers on their phones.

Even better, offers were released in advance, exclusively on GetintheLoop. Members were thrilled to have the ability to plan their evening early, and discover offers that appealed to them, in the palm of their hands, before heading through the doors.

The GetintheLoop street team was on-site all evening, helping current and new members make the most out of the evening. We chatted with members, doled out custom GetintheLoop swag, took pictures with Santa, and handed out $100 bills to unsuspecting shoppers.

To top it all off, one lucky GetintheLoop member walked away with a Weekend Getaway Experience to our partner Qualicum Beach Inn, including two nights accommodation and a $40 dining credit credit towards an exceptional dining experience at the CView Restaurant and Lounge.

GetintheLoop helps you discover exclusive offers at Hillside Centre 365 days a year. Check in often as retailers switch up their offers frequently. And don’t forget to find exclusive offers and unique experiences throughout Victoria, Vancouver Island and all over Western Canada.

The Next Big Marketing Opportunity

Posted by Press No Comment yet

Everywhere we look these days we see people on their phones. These devices have changed the way we live, how we find information, and communicate. Over the last five years, smartphone adoption rates have skyrocketed and according to a recent study, 80% of Canadians own a smartphone. It’s nice to get away from our devices for time to connect with family and friends over a meal, enjoy the salon and spa, or to have a one of kind travel experience. Mobile marketing represents the only area of opportunity and growth of marketing spend.

Using mobile phones to take pictures and videos can take away from and enhance many experiences. How much is your smartphone getting in between you and your life?

Today consumers are using an app to order a coffee that’s prepaid and getting a text when it’s ready. As individuals and organizations, we have many opportunities to use mobile technology for connection, fun, and growth. Make your mobile marketing fun and people will enjoy what your business offers more than just for the product or service itself. The overall experience is an important part of the modern consumer experience.

The most important thing you can do is make it easy for someone to find and use your website to get in touch or see what you sell and in some cases even buy. This means having a website that is mobile ready. Most ‘build your own website services’ offer this capability and if they don’t you should look elsewhere. A mobile ready website will ensure that visitors who are looking to contact you to place an order, find your address, or peruse your menu. Ensure that your website has proper titles and metadata so that people searching online for you can easily find your offerings and your business. Consider what some simple video content can do to help visitors find and understand your offerings. Google your business and make sure that your Google Business Listing (a free service) is up to date and respond to reviews everywhere you find them: Yelp, Facebook, or Trip Advisor for example.

Our team often gets asked about how to respond to negative reviews and we have two rules: own the customer experience and stay positive. Whether or not a poor experience was directly a result of your business or staff when others see you owning the experience and making an effort to improve it you’ll be much better off than if consumers just read negative reviews.

Having a social media presence for your business sounds like a lot of work but it doesn’t have to be and can be a real no-brainer. Use visuals and whenever possible post video content that is meaningful or fun. Ask the audience to tell you what they want. People who take the time to follow you or your business online actually want to engage, but not just about new products or daily menu specials. Make it a two-way conversation. Ask questions, leave comments, give your audience what you would want for yourself and add value to their lifestyle by sharing valuable content and starting meaningful conversations.

Create incentives that compel customers to act to fill the seats or push key products. Your business can continue to make money while providing compelling offers and incentives. You need control and measurability. Digital offers on consumer’s smartphones have redemption rates 10 times higher than print coupons like the ones in the weekend paper. There are a lot of companies out there assisting businesses with digital offers but the best option is the one that doesn’t take your revenue or force you to make deep discounts that could hurt your business. For the sake of full disclosure and as many readers may already know I started GetintheLoop to solve this exact challenge by providing businesses and easy-to-use solution to provide incentives to consumers.

At GetintheLoop we’ve built a platform for intelligent mobile marketing allowing businesses to develop offers for your entire clientele (offers for ladies night, family meals, and sports nights for example) and dynamically change them through a mobile app used by and built by British Columbians who are in the loop. Try out GetintheLoop and tell me what you think.

Vernon’s Village Green Centre Gets In The Loop

Posted by Press No Comment yet

GetintheLoop is all about enabling members to discover exclusive offers and unique experiences. Since GetintheLoop started, we’ve learned that GetintheLoop members are delighted when we can bring together a strong concentration of offers in one location. Where are there more retailers in one location than anywhere else? Well, shopping centres of course! We are excited to announce that today we launched with the Village Green Shopping Centre in Vernon bringing more than a dozen retailers and their great offers together in GetintheLoop for members in and visiting Vernon.

Traditional retailers are in tough against the perceived convenience of services like Amazon. Bringing together the combined draw of retailers in a concentrated shopping area has worked well for GetintheLoop partners like Hillside Centre in Victoria. Village Green Centre saw GetintheLoop as an opportunity to provide retail partners with added value and a powerful way to reach local consumers and drive them in store.

GetintheLoop provides great value and a mobile marketing solution that is easy-to-use, effective, and flexible to attract and retain customers. Shopping centres have varying budgets and GetintheLoop is able to work with each shopping centre to find a balance between budget constraints and cooperative marketing opportunities like midnight madness events, and ongoing promotion of GetintheLoop. The measurability provided to each retailer and in aggregate to the shopping centre provides measurability and demographic data not available through marketing channels traditionally used by shopping centres at a much better value.

GetintheLoop uses categories the group offers together and for shopping centres that means that all of their offers are contained in a single category or loop. When someone checks out GetintheLoop in Vernon Village Green’s loop and all the offers is the first option they see. Increasing awareness and focusing attention on the shopping centre where GetintheLoop members will find a tonne of great offers. At GetintheLoop, we’ve learned that a concentration of great offers delights and engages our members. We are constantly looking to increase this concentration and work with more shopping centres and concentrations of retailers whether through Business Associations or Chambers of Commerce.

GetintheLoop assisted retailers in messaging and communications with individual brand’s headquarters that may have been required to get approval to use GetintheLoop. GetintheLoop helped bring together the retailers and shopping centre with more than 90% of retailers saying they would love to be involved. It helped that the shopping centre’s collective marketing budget was able to cover the costs which were less than more traditional marketing options.

GetintheLoop’s new ability for businesses to post their current offers in addition to exclusive GetintheLoop offers was a hit for retailers who may have been restricted in their promotion options. GetintheLoop gave retailers the ability to be a unique competitor in the market space which was seen as an exciting value.

The GetintheLoop team helped each individual retailers build out each brand and their offers effectively and easily which made the experience turnkey for retailers at Village Green Shopping Centre.

Village Green Centre opened in 1975. Situated in Vernon, BC, Village Green Centre is the premier shopping destination in the scenic North Okanagan Valley. Featuring over 60 shops and services, including The Bay, Winners, Save-On-Foods and Canadian Tire Village Green Centre offers everyday convenience for every member of the family.
